Year 2 have begun their next text for English – Dear Earth by Isabel Otter and Clara Anganuzzi. Our book hook involved discovering a rucksack in the classroom and the Year 2s, filled with curiosity and excitement, turned out the contents trying to deduce who it could belong to. Several thought it may belong to the Grandad in one of our previous stories (Grandad’s Camper by Harry Woodgate) as we all remembered how much he enjoyed adventures and others decided it belonged to a yet unknown explorer. It contained items such as binoculars, maps, sunscreen, a book on animals, a menu from another country, just to name a few.
We talked about what we love about the world and places we would love to explore in the future, spending some time looking at pictures from around the world and imagining where we could go and what we could do.
