Science Week - WC 9th March 2026

What an incredible Science Week we’ve had in Class F/1! Our classroom has been buzzing with excitement, curiosity, and plenty of colourful explosions.

Monday: We launched our very own pop rockets! With just an effervescent tablet and a splash of water, our tiny pots blasted high into the air—it was amazing to watch them zoom off!

Tuesday: Next came our mini volcanoes! We mixed vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, and bright food colouring to create bubbling, fizzing eruptions. The children were mesmerised by the rainbow‑coloured lava.

Wednesday: We made magical rainbows using Skittles and water. As the colours melted and spread, we watched beautiful patterns swirl across our plates.

Thursday: We tried a simple STEM colour experiment. We used felt pens on kitchen roll, added a little water, and watched the colours spread and mix. A tiny, beautiful lesson in capillary action.

Friday: Exploring the first signs of Spring. We pulled on our red suits and headed out to hunt for signs of spring. We looked closely at tree buds, blossom and ground‑level colour-finding purple, blue and white flowers as well as lots of l yellow. Cloud‑gazing became a mini weather lesson, and we spotted a bumblebee drying out after the rain. A wet‑then‑sunny day gave us the perfect real‑life demo of spring weather patterns and seasonal change.

But that’s not all! Throughout the week, we’ve been captivated by the transformation of our frogspawn—now wiggly tadpoles, with some even growing tiny legs. We also painted cheerful daffodils and experimented with colour mixing in our water play.

What a wonderfully busy and brilliantly fun week of science exploration!
