Art Day 2026

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a fantastic Art Day inspired by the work of artist Elena Efremova, who is well known for her beautiful watercolour paintings that capture small details from everyday life.

We began the day by exploring our school grounds with iPads, taking photographs of interesting scenes and objects that caught our attention. The children carefully looked at the world around them, noticing colours, textures and patterns that are often overlooked.

After selecting their favourite photograph, the children chose a small section of the image to focus on. They then used their observational drawing skills to recreate this area before bringing it to life with watercolour paints. Inspired by Elena Efremova's expressive style, the children worked carefully to capture the shapes, colours and details they could see.

To finish the project, the children photographed their completed artwork while holding it in front of the original scene. This created a wonderful comparison between the real-life image and their painted interpretation, showing just how closely they had observed their chosen subject.
