S'mores around the fire

A very exciting wild tribe adventure for our pre-schoolers. The children were exposed to a wonderful experience, making s'mores on a real-life fire. The children heard about the natural environment, why we need different materials and how they burn. They developed their life skills, learning about risk management, self-regulation, and self-awareness. We all felt a sense of achievement once we built and lit the fire, learning it can take a lot of patience. The children learnt new safety rules, such as to step behind their log and walk around because getting close to a fire is not safe. The importance of having enough water to extinguish the fire and to make sure it has completely extinguished before leaving the site and to make sure there are no low hanging branches or debris near the fire.
Our learning powers of resilience, reflection, respect and resourcefulness well and truly in action.
