Cornwall Climate Care

15th May 2024

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Hayley from #CornwallClimateCare to lead workshops about climate change and the impact on our oceans.
In Class 4 we learnt all about the Earth's climate over the past 5 billion years. We looked at how important plankton is - producing 50% of the oxygen on Earth and what we can do to help stop climate change. We loved playing climate change bingo and celebrated what we all already do to help the environment. Then we chose to create posters, draw pictures or play board games linked to our new understanding of climate change and how we can help. Finally, we made pledges about what we wanted to do next to help our climate.
In Class 1 the children learnt about the earth's climate; how the oceans and sea-life have changed over billions of years. We also learnt how important plankton are in feeding the sea-life around our coastline. We discussed what we all already do and what we can continue to do to reduce our impact on the environment. We then created our own art work of colourful, tropical fish that can be found in warmer climates.
This visit linked to the learning in Class 1 and Class 4 and has really enriched the children's understanding. Thank you Hayley and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon to share your expertise
