A Visit from Hayley from Cornwall Climate Care: Teaching us About Climate Change
Today Hayley from Cornwall Climate Care visited our school to work with some KS1 and KS2 classes on the vital issue of climate change. Through interactive lessons, she explained how climate change is affecting food production worldwide, from droughts to floods, and how this impacts food availability and prices.
A key message was the importance of reducing food waste. Hayley suggested practical ways to help, such as growing our own vegetables, starting community gardens, and buying only what we need. These small actions can significantly reduce our environmental impact.
To make the message memorable, Hayley incorporated art into the session. The children created posters and drawings to express what they had learned about climate change and sustainability. They also discussed simple ways to be responsible climate citizens, like reusing, recycling, saving energy, and conserving water.
Hayley’s visit inspired the children to take action and be mindful of their choices. They left excited about the role they can play in protecting the planet, and we’re grateful for the positive impact she made on their understanding of climate change.May be an image of 5 people, people studying and text
