Year 6 Residential- Camp Kernow

23rd June 2025

Year 6's Residential Diary:

The sun is shining and after a tour of the amazing eco features of the site , a picnic lunch , putting our bags into our accommodation for the next few days in Base Canp, we have split into two groups for sustainable workshops . One group are currently learning survival skills and the other are foraging and making natural fabric dyes . We are loving #campkernow.

So after more natural dying workshops and resilience and team building activities that everyone adored we are chilling outside playing games in the sunshine . The first foraging and kitchen team are busy collecting and prepping tonight’s feast .

After a delicious meal we all ventured into the magical forest for a nightime walk and met a fabulous protector of the woods .As the sun set stories and interesting facts were shared amidst bats flying and birds singing. After heading back to camp we all settled down to (hopefully)a good nights sleep…fingers crossed they are not up before sunrise!!!

Good morning from Base Camp !
A good nights sleep…first camper awake at 4.45 a.m. The weather is a tad drizzly here today but it hasnt dampened the enthusiasm. Tent inspection done and waiting for breakfast …which smells delicious. More updates soon.

What a fantastic morning …so far ! A wonderful breakfast with minimal food waste -our UNICEF Steering Group will be very impressed -fuelled body and mind for archery , fire building skills and the climbing wall challenge . Nearly time for lunch and then the groups will try a different challenge .
