NSPCC Number Day-Maths in the Wider World

7th February 2025

NSPCC Number Day
WOW the school was full of children dressed as people in the workforce who use numbers everyday in their jobs. The wide range of roles selected really emphasised the importance of this fantastic core subject. It was like we were in a time machine and we could see the vets, scientists, doctors, nurses, sports people, tradesmen and woman, designers, teachers, office workers (and so much more) of the future.
Throughout the day each class was emersed in mathematical explorations and learning about famous mathematicians in history-individuals who have made a huge impact on the world we live in. From Marjorie Lee Browne, Florence Nightingale and Ada Lovelace, to Sir Isaac Newton and Alan Turin-ask the children who they have been learning about and why they are so special!
The children have also been using Thinking Frames as part of our whole school "Thinking Matters" project to deepen their understanding and question their facts and knowledge.
A truly fantastic number day and a huge thanks to everyone who dressed up and who contributed to the #NSPCCcharity. As a school we raised just over £91 -THANK YOU .
