Barnardos Healthy Relationship Workshops

We started our learning about Healthy Relationships -with Mel from Barnardos. Today we discussed occupations and gender stereotypes ~ the majority of us agreed that anyone could pursue any career that they wanted but agreed that some occupations can be seen to be followed more by one gender than another eg car mechanic and ballet dancer. We talked about how important individuality is and how, with the transition to Secondary School, it is important to follow this. This led onto a discussion about healthy relationships. In our groups we sorted ‘ relationship ‘ vocabulary into healthy, both and unhealthy relationships ~ eg: respect, loyal, violent, patient, unkind, jealous, compromise and controlling. We also looked at where we could get help from ~ our trusted 5 and/or Childline.
